Can anyone tell me what species this is? It lives at a depth of about 2 m in Marathon Bay / Aegina / Greece. I know the photograph is not very good - I use a very simple underwatercamera -, but I hope it is good enough for an identification.

Hi Joanna the sponge is probably Ircinia variabilis. Look this image of a specimen of I. variabilis found in a lagoon at 1-2 m in depth (La Strea-Porto Cesareo-Apulia-Italy). The morphology and the arrangement of the oscula on the surface are very similar...
