Ciao Klaas, watching in the gallery I saw an identical exemplary taxed as Malthinus scriptus. So I thought it would be identifiable even without analyzing the genitals. Could there be a different distribution in Italy between Malthinus and Malthodes that helps identify even without looking the genitals?

Ciao Salvatore,
the problem to differ between Malthodes and Malthinus is only that I don't remember the characters for both genus'. I always have to look into my books. But even if you do know the genus you get problems in identifying the species. Especially genus Malthodes shows a huge number of species, most of them almost looking the same. Just in Germany we do have 29 different species you can identify only by dissecting genitalia. I guess in Italy it will be a much bigger number, so I wouldn't try to identify those species withour the beetle and a dissection.
