This large specimen is the last of the spiders that I found and photographed on my recent trip to Cyprus. It was found at Mehmetcik in the north of the island on 11 April 2018. I believe it to be a female Steatoda sp and possibly S.grossa. I would though greatly appreciate confirmation or correction of this identification.
Many thanks
Alan

Very many thanks Luigi. I have seen this species often but had not realised it could be completely black and this one was exceptionally large as well so I was hoping it might have been S.grossa which I have never seen. I have previously always seen the red and black form of S.paykulliana which was especially abundant this year including at this site, so clearly they like it there!
Best wishes and many thanks again for all your help.
