Further to my Horistus species postings this is clearly different. It reminds me of some forms of Calocoris nemoralis which I know is very variable but this one does not seem to fit to any of the images I have seen previously of this. Perhaps it is within the range of this species or something new.I wold welcome the views of the experts here. It was caught beside Gasimagusa (Famagusta) Freshwater Lake in Cyprus on 26 March 2013.

It has lots of color forms and you can check many of them in our gallery:

This species is very common, but it would be very interesting if you have had found a Taurocalocoris samai Carapezza, 1998 in Cyprus. This is a genus with its unique species and is known only from SW Turkey:

Thanks Levent. As I indicated I have seen a good few forms of this and had thought it might well be this though I had not previously seen one with these black markings on the elytra. I will add this to my own gallery of the forms of this that I have photographed.

I have certainly never seen Taurocalocoris samai on Cyprus but I will look out for it. All the tours I have led there have been mid March to mid April which does undoubtedly mean I will miss out on a lot of species not around at that time,
